HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Memorial Day 2019 is replete with parades and cemetery observances honoring the military dead. Here are a few along the Lakeshore:
HOLLAND
9:30 a.m. Memorial Day Parade steps off at Eighth Street at Central Avenue; continues east on Eighth to Columbia Avenue; then south on Columbia to 16th Street; east on 16th to Pilgrim Home Cemetery, 364 E. 16th St., for a post-parade service.
ZEELAND
9 a.m. parade, west on Main Avenue from Centennial Street to State, then souht of State to Central Avenue; east on Central Avenue, ending at Maple Street. The Cemetery Ceremony immediately follows, at Zeeland Cemetery, East Lincoln Avenue at South Church Street.
SAUGATUCK-DOUGLAS9 a.m. in downtown Saugatuck starting at at Butler and Main Street10 a.m. in downtown Douglas on Center StreetSponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars.
HAMILTON
Line up begins at 8 a.m. at Hamilton High School, with the parade at 9 a.m.
Hamilton CRC is hostiing a pre-parade pancake breakfast starting at 7 a.m., cost is a good will donation for church missions.
GRAND HAVEN9:30 a.m., Washington Avenue.
SPRING LAKE10:30 a.m. with parade staging an hour earlier beginning at St. Mary’s Church parking lot. The parade steps off east on Exchange; turns south onto Lake Avenue, then east onto River Street, then north onto DeWitt Lane, ending at Spring Lake Presbyterian Church.
PLAINWELL
The parade steps off at North Anderson and travels east on East Bridge Street to Hill Cemetery where the VFW leads the cemetery ceremony
