OTTAWA COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 15-year-old Jenison High student was arrested just after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2019.
He’d entered the school and was being questioned by a staff member, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Capt. Mark Bennett. While the student wasn’t armed, he did appear to be wearing body armor, Bennett said, a took off into the school. Staff alerted the on-scene School Resource Deputy; and other deputies responded to the call for back up. They found the teen, who was arrested without incident, Bennett said.
While the teen had no weapons and was wearing what Bennett called “a form of body armor,” he did not seem to have access to any firearm. But he is on probation for unrelated crimes, Bennett said.
No one was hurt during this incident, which remains under investigation.
