LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Michigan lawmakers are fixing a mistake in the no-fault auto insurance reform signed by Governor Whitmer last week.
Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey says without the technical fix, premiums would have increased immediately. The issue is the change in the insurance law requiring insurance companies to increase liability coverage for injuries in crashes next year, but Shirkey says they unintentionally wrote it up to take effect immediately.
The fix sailed through both the House and Senate yesterday with bipartisan backing.
