MICHIGAN (WHTC-AM/FM) — Derrick Decoste is in the Oakland County Jail now, but he’s on a list to be extradited to Nevada.
Police investigators believe Decoste, who turns 26 later this month, is responsible for the murder of a defrocked and disgraced priest, John Capparelli, 70, who was found shot dead in his Henderson home in March.
Capparelli was on a list of what Catholic church officials called “credibly accused” priests suspected of sexually abusing children. The Newark, NJ, archdiocese released the list in February. Capparelli was a priest from 1980 to 1992. He later worked as a high school teacher and, later still, ran a porn web site.
Decoste was arrested on March 27, 2019, in Oakland County, on suspicion of larceny, fraud, and impersonating a police officer.
