KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Yesterday’s stormy weather rolled through Kalamazoo just as both the City and County Commissions were holding zoom meetings.
It resulted in shaky web connections and the periodic loss of some commissioners due to power outages.
The County’s evening board meeting had to be canceled, but it wasn’t due to the storm.
In the County’s case, the wrong web address was printed on the agenda. Without public participation, Attorney Matt Nordfjord said there could be no meeting.
“If the wrong link is posted, we should recess and reconvene after we’ve reposted the meeting for at least 18 hours and get the right link out there, so that we aren’t conducting business at a meeting that is not accessible to the public.”
The evening meeting got a late start, an hour and 45 minutes after their posted time, because the Afternoon session ran into overtime.
When it got started, it quickly went off the rails because of the agenda glitch.
The Board will now reconvene this Thursday night, September 9, at 7 p.m.
The agenda for that meeting can be viewed at this link.
