LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) –John James has officially announced he will run for U.S. Senate again in 2020; this time challenging Democratic Senator Gary Peters.
James, a Detroit-area businessman, won the primary race in July 2018 to challenge Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow.
Despite losing the 2018 election, James is determined to give it another go, saying his “service to this nation is not over.”
Announcing his run on D-Day, he told MIRS News, “D-Day is a reminder of what Americans can do when we put our differences aside and focus more on defeating systematic obstacles to freedom and justice than defeating each other. When you cross the line into a combat zone, you do it for love of country, and with the knowledge that there are things greater than yourself that are worth fighting for, and even dying for.”
On the opposite side, Peters released a statement saying:
“I’m focused on continuing to deliver results for Michigan. I’ll keep working with anyone to improve life for Michiganders, whether it’s to expand training programs so everyone has the skills needed to find good-paying jobs, protect our Great Lakes or lower the cost of health care and prescription drugs.”
