LANSING MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The budget for the Michigan Department of Transportation now before the state House makes some big changes to current laws. The spending plan cleared its committee yesterday, and Representative Matt Maddock of Oakland County says one of those changes involves where fuel taxes go.
The House Fiscal Agency says that change would put more than 542-million additional dollars into the roads. The bill does not include Governor Whitmer’s proposed 45-cent per gallon tax increase.
It would also pull all state funding for the Gordie Howe Bridge construction in Detroit, and require the state to try to sell the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron next year.
