BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A drive-by shooting in Battle Creek that left two people injured Sunday night remains under investigation as police continue trying to identify a suspect.
Officers were called to Claude Evans Park on Washington Ave. just before 9:00 p.m.. At the scene, police located a 32-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman who had both been shot multiple times. They told police they had been standing next to their vehicles when another vehicle approached. A back-seat passenger fired several shots before the vehicle fled the scene.
Police believe the 32-year-old victim was an intended target, but the motive is still unclear. They also don’t have a description of a suspect at this time. The suspect vehicle was only described as a small dark-colored SUV.
Both victims are expected to recover from their injuries.
