BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – A Calhoun County man was ordered to serve between 71 months and 15 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections Monday after he ran over a woman and killed her last October.
WWMT-TV reports 51-year-old Kevin Frederick entered no contest pleas in May to felony charges of failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death and operating a vehicle with a suspended license resulting in death.
Police say 41-year-old Patricia Albrecht was struck and killed by Frederick’s pickup truck in a crosswalk at North Avenue and Emmett Street near Bronson Battle Creek Hospital where she had worked. Frederick apologized to Albrecht’s family during the sentencing hearing.
Instead of stopping, he drove to a lawyer’s office in Marshall where he was spotted and arrested. Officials say Frederick was easy to spot, because his black pickup had a large Batman symbol in the back window.
Frederick has a long history of driving infractions and has been cited multiple times for driving on a suspended license.
