QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – A Jonesville man had to be flown to the hospital by an Air Care helicopter Monday night following a fireworks accident in Quincy.
Quincy Police Chief Jeremy Burch says 25-year-old Jonathan Britton was lighting fireworks near West Chicago and Arnold Streets at about 8:20 p.m. when a mortar round went off and struck him in the lower abdomen area, which caused severe cuts and bleeding.
Britton’s condition is unknown. Quincy Police don’t believe alcohol was a factor in the incident which is still under investigation.
The Quincy Fire Department and Life Care Ambulance also responded to the accident.
The landing zone for the Air Care helicopter was set up in the Quincy Industrial Park.
