GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Grand Rapids Police report that one person was killed and another was wounded in one of the shootings near downtown.
It happened around 10:45 pm near the intersection of 6th Street Northwest and Front Avenue.
Police say the person killed was a 21 year old male found dead at the scene in a car that had crashed into another vehicle. An 18 year old women was injured and rushed to the hospital early Sunday.
A few minutes prior, a 17 and a 19 year old were injured in a shooting at the Big Boy Restaurant on Pearl Street near U.S. 131.
Authorities say investigators have no evidence at this time suggesting that these events were related.
Around the time of the shootings, thousands were downtown for the annual fireworks show.
