KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A teen is injured and another suspect is in custody after a shooting lead to a lockdown in Kalamazoo’s Edison Neighborhood.
The investigation began when a 19-year-old man showed up at the Kalamazoo Public Safety Station on Bryant Street around 10:30 a.m. Thursday with a gunshot wound to his upper shoulder/neck area.
Firefighters helped the victim who was able to inform officers the exact location of the incident and who the gunman was.
Authorities then conducted a lock down at a home in the 1100 block of Lane Boulevard but after further investigation they released the suspect has fled.
Officers located the gunman’s vehicle on the Northside in the 1000 block of West North Street and then found the suspect in a nearby yard.
The 22-year-old Hispanic man was arrested for assault with intent to murder and the victim was transported to Bronson Hospital where he was last listed in stable condition.
The exact cause for the shooting is still unknown.
