HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — City of Allegan officials will host a public meeting at the Allegan District Library Carnegie Room from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2019, to talk about the riverfront’s future — and what to do with the dam, originally built to maintain water levels for the adjacent millrace and powerhouse.
State officials will be on hand to present information about the Kalamazoo River and its current status as an EPA Superfund Site. Their presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.
To learn more about the Allegan Dam feasibility and conceptual design report, and see drawings of what the riverfront might look like should the dam get removed, visit the city’s website.
