LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A new way to pay for road repairs in Michigan may be brewing in Lansing.
Republican leaders are proposing that the current gas tax be replaced by a 15 cent per gallon tax.
This idea is markedly different from the 45 cent per gallon tax proposed by Governor Whitmer.
An anonymous source in the state capitol says that the new idea is being looked at by House Speaker Lee Chatfield and Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey.
