PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Portage Department of Public Safety is reporting that a semi-truck crash resulted in about 100 gallons of diesel fuel being spilled onto US-131 today.
Just before 11 a.m., the driver of the truck, a 46-year-old man from Belmont, was merging onto northbound US-131 from I-94 when he crashed into a guard rail, causing the massive spill.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and the driver was uninjured.
The driver was then arrested under suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He is currently being held at the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department where he is awaiting arraignment.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
