BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An officer-involved shooting in Battle Creek is under investigation after police responded to reports of shots fired and located an armed suspect. It happened at around 4:00 p.m. Wednesday on S. Avenue near E. Fountain Street, but few other details have been made available at this time.
The Michigan State Police confirmed that one Battle Creek police officer was on a standard paid leave following the incident and that the officer had not suffered any injuries. MSP will handle the investigation and a crime lab was called in to process evidence at the scene.
