KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — More details are being released on an early morning shooting near Western Michigan University’s campus.
Kalamazoo Public Safety officers were called to the intersection of West Michigan Avenue and Howard Street around 1:30 a.m. Friday where they found a large crowd and two people suffering from gunshot wounds.
They later learned that a third victim was already at the hospital and all 3 were last reported in stable condition.
Officers are speaking to witnesses, hoping to gather more information on the suspect, who is still at large.
WMU Public Safety tweeted that KDPS is responding to a report of a shooting and that anyone should exercise caution if they’re in the area.
So far they describe the shooter as a black man around 6-foot with short dreadlocks, and no facial hair.
He was wearing a black zip-up hoodie, a Nike t-shirt, black pants, black boots, and may have gotten away in a yellow Chevy Camaro with black racing stripes.
It’s unclear if the victims were college students.
