BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – A Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Officer escaped injury Thursday night when his patrol vehicle was rear ended on westbound I-94 near Beadle Lake Road near Battle Creek.
The Officer was patrolling the construction zone between mile markers 100 and 104 at about 9:15 p.m. and activated his emergency lights in anticipation of accessing the authorized vehicles only turn around.
As the patrol vehicle was slowing down to make the turn, it was struck from behind. The other driver involved was not injured but the vehicle sustained enough damage to make it inoperable.
The driver of the other vehicle was cited at the scene for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
The Michigan State Police would like to remind everyone that when they see emergency lights activated to slow down and proceed with due caution.
