BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Battle Creek City Commission officially approved a new name for the city’s airport this week.
What had been the W.K. Kellogg Airport will now be known as Battle Creek Executive Airport at Kellogg Field.
The airport is in its 95th year of operation.
City officials say the new name indicates the primary, business aviation function of the airport.
Airport Director Larry Bowren says “the new name represents the perfect culmination of our rich heritage, and our identity as a large, general aviation airport that serves a unique business aviation niche. The city’s airport plays an important role in the national general aviation sector, and the new name will provide greater exposure, not only to the airport, but to the City of Battle Creek.”
With the name change, there will soon be new logos, signs and an improved online presence.
