LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Following a temporary ban issued by State officials for THC vaping products, investigators have announced the recall of a handful of brands as of Tuesday.
Investigators believe that an additive called Vitamin E Acetate may be the culprit responsible for several vaping-related illnesses in Michigan and elsewhere in the country.
Under the emergency temporary ban issued, manufacturers are prohibited from adding the chemical into their products. All products must be tested for the presence of the chemical, plus the standard specified testing.
In Michigan, the recall concerns products containing Vitamin E Acetate, greater than 500 times the limit of quantitation (LOQ), which is 100 parts per million (ppm). Officials say that all products included in this notice were purchased from registered primary caregivers.
“All affected vape cartridges will have a label that indicates the license number of the marijuana facility that packaged the marijuana product, as well as a tag number assigned to the product in the statewide monitoring system,” officials said in a statement.
