KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) –An alleged drug dealer who thought he would celebrate the arrival of 2018 by blasting away with a hand gun from the back porch of his Kalamazoo home will spend New Year’s Day in jail, and perhaps a few years in prison.
Sgt. Derrick Turner heard the gunshots coming from the 1300 Block of Princeton and then says he observed the suspect firing his gun into the air.
Officers set up a perimeter around the home until they could obtain a search warrant.
Once inside they found several bags of crystal meth, marijuana and two handguns.
They claim one of the pistols had been listed as stolen from Van Buren County.
The 54-year-old suspect was booked into the Kalamazoo County Jail on several gun and drug felonies, including operating a drug house.
