BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — The man being held for an alleged attack on an ex-girlfriend is Anthony Maurice Whitlock, who is 35 years old. Charges were authorized Saturday morning by the Calhoun County Prosecutors Office for Assault with Intent to Murder, Home Invasion and being an habitual offender.
He is being held in the Calhoun County Jail without bond pending an arraignment, which is expected early next week.
Police say that he broke his way into the apartment of the mother of his three children and attacked her with what appeared to be a samurai sword.
She remains in critical condition. Her name has not been released.

BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — We don’t know what drove a Battle Creek man to this but he has reportedly broke into a unit at Teal Run Apartments and attacked a woman with a three foot sword.
It happed at about 2:45 a.m. Friday on the Cereal City’s south side. Police are calling it a domestic incident, saying the victim was the mother of the man’s child, and it was that 13-year-old child who identified the suspect and gave them a description of his car.
A Kalamazoo County Detective spotted the car on King Highway and arrested the suspect.
The 35-year-old victim was stabilized and transported to the hospital in serious condition, where she was rushed straight into emergency surgery.
The sword was recovered from the apartment.
