KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A Pavilion Township woman accused of murdering her husband on Valentine’s Day last year, and then trying to make it look like a murder-suicide has cut a deal with prosecutors, pleading guilty to second degree murder.
44-year-old Janel Boer initially told investigators that they got into a fight and her husband, Gregory grabbed a gun, and shot her and she fell and hit her head and blacked out. When she woke up, she found him dead from a gunshot to the head.
But detectives said the blood spatter evidence, the angle of the wounds and a lot of other evidence in their Pavilion Township home told a very different story.
She admitted in court as part of the plea deal that she was guilty.
The two had been having marital difficulties and were divorcing.
Sentencing is set for February 12th.
