INGHAM COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — Larry Nassar has been given 40 to 175 years in prison for molesting two generations of young female athletes at Michigan State University, and members of the U.S.A. Gymnastics squad, some of them Olympic medalists.
The sentence came after over a week of sometimes graphic, heart-wrenching and horrifying testimony from over 150 accusers, including Rachael Denhollander of Kalamazoo. She was first to go public with what Nassar was doing, and last to speak.
Nassar apologized again for the pain and suffering he caused.
Judge Rosemarie Aquilina handed down the sentence, saying it will begin after the 60-year federal sentence that Nassar has already been given ends. Aquilina said it was her honor and privilege to sentence Nassar, adding “You do not deserve to walk outside a prison again.”
