ALLEGAN COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — There is never a cowboy around when you need one.
Motorists headed north on U.S. 131 from Kalamazoo were brought to a standstill by a young cow, that managed to get over the fence and escape from the Silver Dollar Rodeo near Wayland and onto the highway around 2:30 pm Sunday.
Troopers tried to corral it, but just aren’t equipped for that kind of emergency, and it created a one-cow stampede along the northbound lane, as the cow headed toward Dorr with a State Police escort.
Eventually it was exhausted and the owner coaxed it into a trailer for the return home, so there was a happy ending.
