LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Two Michigan lawmakers are introducing legislation to improve the state’s recycling laws.
State Representative Jon Hoadley of Kalamazoo is sponsoring a bill that would amend the Beverage Containers law in Michigan and expand the current bottle deposit to include water and all beverages, except for milk, that are packaged in metal, plastic or glass of 1 gallon or smaller.
Dearborn’s Abdullah Hammoud is also pushing for a bill that would amend the Housing Law of Michigan to require apartment buildings to provide access to recycling services.
Both legislation reforms come after Governor Rick Snyder announced that the state lags in recycling efforts.
