OKEMOS, MI (WJXQ) — Meridian Township officials are admitting fault in their failure to stop disgraced sports doctor Larry Nassar. On Thursday, Township Manager Frank Walsh publicly apologized to Brianne Randall-Gay for the police department’s dismissal of her case against the doctor when she reported him for sexual assault in 2004.
Police at the time accepted Nassar’s explanation that he was practicing a medical procedure when he massaged Gay’s breasts and pelvic area and even attempted to insert his fingers in her vagina.
Nassar is currently in the middle of a sentencing hearing in Eaton County for sexually assaulting gymnasts under the guise of treatment. He was given a 40-to-175-year prison sentence last week in Ingham County for the same crime.
