DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Americans are buying more trucks but overall, sales continue a slow decline for the big three, with GM sales up just over 1% in January, but Ford sales were down 6% and Fiat Chrysler saw their sales drop 13%.
U.S. auto sales fell two-percent last year and are expected to fall even more this year. Analysts attribute the losses to rising interest rates and a growing number of used late-model car inventories.
Major car makers posted mixed U.S. new vehicle sales figures last month. General Motors and Ford both reported struggling sales of passenger cars.
Most of the increases were for pick-ups and SUV’s.
