BRADLEY, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A move several years in the making was enacted yesterday by the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Tribe of Pottawattomi Indians.
Better known as the Gun Lake Tribe, officials announced the expiration of a seven-year contract with Station Casinos to manage the Gun Lake Casino south of Wayland, with no new deal to be consummated. In a statement, Tribal Chairman Scott Sprague said that the move was “another step toward complete self-sufficiency as a tribal government.”
The Tribe had what it called “a comprehensive transition plan” already in place that “focused in operational personnel and technology” in moving forward on its own for operating the Casino. This included the hiring of veteran operator Sal Semola last October as the gaming house’s President and Chief Operating Officer.
