GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO AM/FM) — The Family of Mujey Dumbaya held a news conference last evening with their attorney to keep the pressure on police officials to charge someone with her murder. Her body was discovered after it was left along a trail near Kalamazoo late last month.
Right now the person of interest in the case, Quinn James, remains incarcerated for a sexual assault on another teen.
Dumbaya had accused James of raping her last fall and was due to testify against him at his April trial.
The victim’s aunt Jainya Sunnoh says they need the public’s help to solve her murder, not singling out any suspects.
Their Attorney, Christine Yared however, says James should have been ordered to have a GPS tether when he was released on bail.
The Kent County Prosecutor’s Office has announced that they will proceed with the rape case against James, even though the victim won’t be able to testify, they may be able to use testimony from previous hearings. James remains in jail on half a million dollars bond.
