UNDATED (WKZO AM/FM) — February 14 is Valentine’s Day and new numbers show that only 55% of the population celebrates the holiday.
According to the National Retail Federation, consumers will spend a near record $19.6 billion on Valentine’s Day. On average, consumers will spend $143.56.
Spending will be up about $7 from last year. They also say that an increasing percentage of that total is spent on pets.
Another survey by Retail-Me-Not found that dinner out is now the most popular thing for couples to do on Valentine’s Day.
That survey also finds that it does not necessarily take two to Tango. 23% of singles will treat themselves to a nice dinner and 18% will buy themselves gifts.
