PYEONGCHANG, SOUTH KOREA (WKZO AM/FM) — If you watched the Winter Olympics this weekend, Michigan was well represented, especially in the Ice Dancing competition last night.
Five of the six skaters from the U.S. are from Michigan. The “Shib Sibs”, Alex and Maia Shibutani are from Ann Arbor and the team of Evan Bates and Madison Chock come from the Detroit burbs. Madison Hubbell of Okemos is the partner of Zach Donavan from Massachusetts.
All of them are within striking distance of medaling if they also do well in the Free Dance portion of the competition Monday night.
Megan Keller of Farmington and the rest of the US women’s Hockey Team are headed for the Gold medal game Wednesday after shutting out Finland 5-0 in the Semi-final early Monday morning.
Jessica Smith-Kooreman of Melvindale didn’t make it into the finals in short track speed skating Saturday after she was penalized for touching another skater.
