CONSTANTINE, MI (WZKO AM/FM) – A 15-year-old freshman at Constantine High School in St Joseph County is in custody and could be in big trouble after posting a threat on Snapchat that he had a gun and planned to use it late Monday morning.
The school went into lockdown at about 11:20 a.m. and it didn’t end until 2:00 p.m. with students hiding in their classrooms. Superintendent Steve Wilson says police were notified and officers from Constantine, Three Rivers, White Pigeon and the Michigan State Police responded to take the teen into custody and do a search. No gun was found.
Wilson says shortly after the lockdown ended, they sent a message to parents via phone and e-mail letting them know what had happened.
Wilson says the boy has been suspended pending an expulsion hearing. He remains in police custody, pending charges.
