LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — A new EPIC-MRA poll shows that about six out of ten Michigan voters are likely to approve recreational marijuana if it makes it to the November ballot.
The Poll found that 45% are strongly in support, 13% say they would probably vote yes and 3% are leaning that way, bringing the total to 61%. That’s an increase of about 8% in the support for the proposal in the last year.
Rick Thomson who sits on the board of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws says they commissioned the survey. He is optimistic that with these kinds of numbers that it will pass this fall if it appears on the ballot. Their petition drive has not yet been certified.
There is strong majority support by Democrats and Independents and about 54% of Republican men support it. Republican women are the only major demographic that are mostly opposed.
