PAW PAW (WKZO AM/FM) — Paw Paw parents were reassured by the School Board last night that they are taking steps to make sure that children are safe and that bullying issues are addressed following the arrest of a 15-year-old, who had planned and armed himself for a school massacre, after his parents say he was bullied unmercifully by other students.
Two experts on school safety are applauding the parents of that Paw Paw teen. Frank DeAngelis was the Principal at Columbine High when it was assaulted, and Kristina Anderson, who was shot three times during the massacre at Virginia Tech, were both speaking in Kalamazoo Wednesday.
They say good parenting, knowing what your child is thinking, what they may be hiding in their room or communicating on social media makes all the difference.
Both DeAngelis and Anderson now do consultancy work in school security and were in Kalamazoo to talk at a convention of school administrators at the Radisson.
