LOS ANGELES (WKZO AM/FM) — Michigan held off a late charge from Florida State to take a 58-54 win in Los Angeles and truly once again become the Champions of the West.
Wolverine head coach John Beilein says this team excels at playing together as a unit, and when someone falters, someone else on the team picks up the slack.
Charles Matthews led the way with 17 points for Michigan, which advances to play the Cinderella team from this tourney, Loyola-Chicago at the Final Four in San Antonio next Saturday.
No matter how far the Wolverines go, Michigan already has one National Hoops Championship on the Mantle this season.
The Ferris State Bulldogs held together in a nail-biter to beat South Dakota State 71 to 69 this weekend.
