DETROIT (WKZO AM/FM) It was one video presentation that was definitely not ready for prime time, but Governor Snyder found a unique way to present $500,000 in cash prizes to the winners of his Great Lakes Invasive Carp Challenge.
The presentation was modeled after the popular “Shark Tank” TV show where inventors pitch their products to investors. On “CARP Tank” four finalists pitched their ideas for keeping the invasive species out of the Great Lakes.
The winner, Edem Tsikata’s cavitation barrier would employ a row of propellers to produce a wall of exploding bubbles that would drive the carp back where they came from.
For that idea he was given $200,000.
There was a live audience and a panel of judges who awarded the top four prizes.
