HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — This week, Congressman Bill Huizenga led a bipartisan delegation from the House of Representatives to the Netherlands, part of a mission to cultivate U.S. relations with the Kingdom of the Netherlands, according to a statement from Huizenga’s office.
Huizenga co-chairs the Congressional Caucus on the Netherlands, and made the visit on an invite from the Dutch government. Along with him: Reps. Gregory Meeks (D-NY), EU Caucus co-chair; John “Judge” Carter (R-TX); Lloyd Doggett (D-TX); and Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-NJ).
Huizenga’s predecessor in office, now Ambassador Pete Hoekstra, hosted the group fpr the opening of the new U.S. Embassy in Wassenaar.
The delegation received a NATO briefing at the Eygelshoven Army Depot, visited the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, where 8,301 American World War II casualties are buried, met with Defense Minister Ank Bijleveld focused on security policies; toured Brainport Eindhoven, a teach and research hub; visited Rotterdam to see the largest port in Europe; and met with dignitaries and Dutch politicians.
Huizenga praised the long and warm American-Dutch relationship and predicted it would last.
