CHICAGO (WKZO AM/FM) — A violent fugitive from Michigan who escaped from JFK Airport on Tuesday is now in custody, but not before getting a third of the way across the country.
Law enforcement sources say that 31-year-old Mohamadou Lamine Mbacke was captured in a coffee shop in downtown Chicago near the Amtrak station.
Mbacke was at JFK for a layover from Detroit en route to Senegal when he escaped, and may have been trying to make it back to Michigan.
He’s expected to be sent back to New York soon to face additional criminal charges.
