LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — Michigan’s State Supreme Court Justices will be taking on a case from Allegan County to settle a neighborhood dispute over what constitutes a pre-manufactured home.
David and Helen Goyings had the home made in three parts and delivered to the site where it was assembled and finished.
There is a ban on Modular or manufactured homes in Allegan County’s Watson Township and apparently some think they should be ordered to remove their home.
The Goyings argue that it was ‘stick built’ at another location and final assembly was done on the site.
They say a home is always made from pieces pre-manufactured somewhere else and assembled on site.
The Justices will be weighing that technicality and whether or not it has harmed the neighborhood.
They have agreed to hear the case, but have scheduled arguments for a later time.
