HASTINGS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The 36-year-old from Middleville who was shot in a church parking lot near Hastings, when he allegedly refused to drop an airsoft pistol, will be arrested as soon as he is discharged from Borgess Medical Center. He may face new charges.
He was already being sought on four felony warrants, which was the reason for Monday night’s confrontation.
Lieutenant Angel Ouwinga at the Wayland State Police Post thinks the rookie State Trooper involved was justified.
She says there is no way he could have known that all the suspect had was a pellet gun.
The Trooper is on administrative leave while a shooting review board takes a look at the dash cam and does and internal investigation to make sure it all went down as the Trooper claims.
