Another month and another bump up in food prices.
The Consumer Price Index for July is out and it shows a seven-tenths percent rise. Items driving the increase this month include meats, fish and eggs while the index for cereals and bakery products, which declined in June, rose by point-8% in July’s survey. The index for other food consumed at home was up by point-8%. The index for fruits and vegetables was the only major grocery store food group index to drop in the latest survey.
It rose the month before. In addition, the index for dairy and related products advanced by six-tenths of a percent in the numbers released this week.
