ZEELAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The State of Michigan designates April as the “Month of the Young Child” to celebrate young children and their families.
Zeeland makes a big deal of this, with the annual Day of the Young Child, set for Saturday, 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Zeeland’s Cityside Middle School becomes the hub for family friendly activities featuring games, music and art actitivites for third graders and younger children.
Parents can pick up bike and car-seat safety information and other educational resources.
Outside — and the Saturday’s weather looks promising — children can clamber around an ambulance, cement truck, police vehicles, race cars and other equipment.
There’s free face painting, a portable farm-animal petting zoo and special shows from Dee Jay the Clown.
It’s an annual joint effort by Zeeland Public Schools and Zeeland Community Hospital, open to all.
