HUNTINGTON WOODS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Michigan State Police troopers in Detroit wrangled 13 semi-tractor trailers to park under an I-696 overpass near Coolidge in Huntington Woods, early Tuesday morning, where a desperate man seemed poised to jump to his death.
Instead, the man was able to get back to safe ground, where Huntington Woods emergency responders took him to Beaumont Hospital for evaluation.
State troopers closed the freeway for about three hours during the crisis and tweeted out advice for those struggling.
In addition to suggesting calling a loved one, a member of the clergy, or 9-1-1 the State Police Detroit Twitter account posted the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number, 1-800-273-8255.
