HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Thousands of people of all ages squeezed into downtown Holland for the Tulip Time Festival’s Yanfeng/Johnson Controls Kinderparade, the children’s parade, with more than 7,000 area students dressed in their Dutch costumes.
For those who couldn’t make it to downtown Holland, technology opened a window on the Eighth Street parade route. WHTC and many others livestreamed parts or all of the parade. (Click here for photo gallery)
DeeDee Stille commented on the City of Holland’s Facebook live-streamed parade video that she was excited to be watching with her family.
Stille was one of many watching the city’s show, some noting the difference between the live Facebook version and the YouTube version.
“So thankful for live stream,” Eileen Dosswrote on the city’s Facebook page. “Get to watch my girl from work… 1st year of parades I have missed, 1 out of 8 isn’t bad, right!”
Mary Tullila, watching from her home in Kentucky, used the comments to cheer on Holland High, her alma mater, reminisce about her days as a blueberry picker, and dream about attending a future Tulip Time Festival in person.
Lynn Kliphuis peered at the video, “Looking for my daughter an grandkids,” she wrote.
“Hope to see my great grandson and great granddaughter marching in the parade with the Rose Park Christian school Dutch Food group,” Lou Bareman wrote.
