SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN (WKZO AM/FM) — Local residents in Kalamazoo and Battle Creek can help Stamp Out Hunger Saturday morning with the largest one day food drive in the nation.
Letter Carrier Sue Henshaw says the process is simple. Residents should have received a postcard or a grocery bag in the mail where they can fill it up with non-perishable food items, and leave it at their mailbox to be picked up on Saturday.
In case of inclement weather, Henshaw adds that homeowners could put the grocery items in a bigger, more protected bag, like a big garbage bag, and leave the items by the mailbox.
Gretta Faworski from Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes says the donated food helps fight hunger in the community.
The non-profit organization serves over 700 people a day through their network of 24 food pantries.
