MUSKEGON COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — Jeffrey Willis is now 0-2, after a jury took only 90-minutes Wednesday evening to reach a verdict in the Jessica Heeringa murder trial.
Willis faces a mandatory life behind bars when he is sentenced on June 12th, but he is already serving a life sentence for killing Rebekah Bletsch as she jogged near her home in Dalton Township in 2014.
DJ Hilson argued that they may not have DNA evidence that Willis killed Heeringa, but they have half a dozen empty bottles of bleach in a basement they believe are linked to covering up the crime.
Defense Attorney Fred Johnson claimed that because the body had never been found, perhaps Heeringa just ran away and does not want to be found.
Jessica Heeringa went missing back in 2013 from a Norton Shores gas station she was working at.
