HASTINGS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Investigations into a fire at a home in Hastings Thursday morning show it was caused by a generator. Fire crews responded to the residence on Redwood Drive in the Meadowstone mobile home park.
WOOD-TV reports that husband and wife, along with their 2-year-old grandson, were inside when the fire started but were able to escape safely. Fire officials say two dogs were also rescued from the home. There are no reports of injuries.
The woman said a generator in the back of a truck parked in the driveway had caught fire and then spread to their home. The family was using the generator due to a power outage caused by recent severe storms.
