HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The process of applying to serve alcohol in downtown Saugatuck and in the resort district just got a little easier.
Saugatuck City Council unanimously repealed a special land-use requirement for businesses serving alcohol in the city, according to a Holland Sentinel report.
The repealed portion of the law required businesses to get permission from both the city council and the planning commission to sell alcohol for on-site consumption — and meet state requirements, too.
The new rules apply only to the downtown and resort district portions of the city, which will still need Michigan Liquor Control Commission permission.
