CASS COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Cass County Sheriff’s Department has released the names of the two killed and five injured in a head-on collision.
Sheriff Richard Behnke says the crash occurred on M-51 south of Crystal Springs Street in Pokagon Township around 8:00 p.m. Sunday.
A southbound PT Cruiser, driven by 34-year-old Lee Ann Saenz from Mishawaka, Indiana, with 3 other passengers, crossed the center line and collided with a northbound Chevrolet Impala driven by 32-year-old Phillip Seitenstich of Dowagiac carrying 2 other passengers.
Saenz is listed in critical condition, passengers 30-year-old Scott Cole from Niles and 33-year-old Kennethia Hoyle from Ann Arbor were both listed in serious but stable condition, and passenger 31-year-old David Conner of Niles died from his injuries.
In the Chevy Impala, Seitenstich and passenger 34-year-old Benjamin Meiser of Dowagiac were treated for non-life threatening injuries, but 37-year-old Tracy Seitenstich of Dowagiac died from her injuries.
Tests are being conducted to determine if alcohol or drugs were involved. The crash is still under investigation.
Assisting agencies were Pokagon Tribal Police, Dowagiac Police Department, Silver Creek Police Department, Aeromed out of Grand Rapids, Pride Care ambulance, Medflight, SMCAS ambulance, Dowagiac, Pokagon and Howard Township Fire departments, Samaritan air ambulance also assisted.
